Yellow Island Wildflowers

Yellow Island, owned by the Nature Conservancy since 1980 is a favorite stop for San Juan Kayak Expeditions. Incidentally SJKE started inHiking Yellow Island 1980 and has been visiting Yellow Island on most of our 2, 3, 4 and 5 day multi-day kayak camping trips ever since.   This year the wildflower bloom is spectacular and now is the best time to see it. Prickly Pear, a cactus thriving on Yellow Island and the driftwood cottage built by homesteaders Lew and Tibb Dodd in 1948 makes this a special island to kayak to no matter what time of the year.
