Montana Killpack

Kayaking with orcas

Montana (24 yrs.) is a Washington native who loves everything outdoors, but has a special passion for being on the water.  He has been paddling since he was 14-years old, when his dad, a kayak coach, trained with him and took him down his first Class II river run.  He has spent the last 10 years paddling on the sea, rivers, and lakes all around the world in kayaks, canoes and on standup paddleboards (SUPs).

Montana has spent the last couple of years becoming certified as a BCU whitewater and sea coach so he could share that love of kayaking.  Recently he completed his BCU Sea Kayak and Whitewater Kayak Leader training, and holds his BCU 3* in sea, whitewater, and open canoe.  He is also certified in Wilderness First Aid.

“The greatest part of kayaking, is sharing it with others.  I have greatly enjoyed teaching introductory kayak classes, clinics and leading people safely on trips. There is no feeling like introducing someone to sea kayaking.  My long-term goal is to make a career out of exposing people to the sport I love.”

Montana has shared his love of kayaking with literally hundreds of people, leading trips in the United States and the United Kingdom in some of the most beautiful places in the world.  Preserving the beauty and serenity of our waters is very important to him.  The rare times he is not paddling, Montana enjoys hiking, sailing, swimming and, yes, bowling (his highest score ever is a 235)!
