San Juan Island's Original Sea Kayak Outfitters & Guides Since 1980

Yellow Island Wildflowers

Yellow Island, owned by the Nature Conservancy since 1980 is a favorite stop for San Juan Kayak Expeditions. Incidentally SJKE started inHiking Yellow Island 1980 and has been visiting Yellow Island on most of our 2, 3, 4 and 5 day multi-day kayak camping trips ever since.   This year the wildflower bloom is spectacular and now is the best time to see it.

Prickly Pear, a cactus thriving on Yellow Island and the driftwood cottage built by homesteaders Lew and Tibb Dodd in 1948 makes this a special island to kayak to no matter what time of the year.

All photos in our website have been contributed by past guests. Thanks to all who have shared their experience! And special thanks to guest Philip Robinson for his fun pics.
