Kayak Rentals
If you wish to embark on a self-guided, multi-day or one day adventure, you may rent double sea kayaks (sorry, I don’t rent singles) and necessary equipment from San Juan Kayak Expeditions. I specialize in multi-day rentals! Rental fee includes:
-highest quality, two-person, fiberglass , rudder-controlled sea kayaks made for long distance touring(Seascape II’s made by Northwest Kayaks)
-Werner carbon-fiber paddles(Camano)
-PFD’s by Extrasport
-Snap Dragon Design spray skirts
-owner Tim Thomsen personally writes a detailed itinerary of your specific route including tidal times and heights, campgrounds, fresh water logistics, hiking opportunities, morning departure times, etc.
-ThermaRest seat cushions
-cockpit covers
-bailing pumps
-sponges
-strobe light
-charts
-spare gear/tool kit
- pick up at the ferry in Friday Harbor and transport to and from my launch/landing site
-in-depth instruction and chart orientation on the beach to make you safe and efficient sea kayakers

Upon receipt of your registration form, I will send you an equipment list and other important logistical information that will help you prepare for your journey.

Please add 7.8% sales tax. A four days or more rental discount is available at $80 per day after the first day.
Rental fee includes: paddles, PFDs, spray skirts, bailing pumps, sponges, chart, repair/spare parts kit, flares, cockpit covers, written itinerary, detailed instruction on the beach, pick up and return to ferry terminal and my help in planning your adventure.
There may be slightly cheaper options out there. Those lower prices mean you will be getting plastic and/or poorly maintained boats and equipment. With my thirty-one years of experience to help you plan your trip, comprehensive service and quality gear you can be sure my rental prices are the best value around and by far the safest option!

I can rent kayaks to larger groups such as family or high school reunions, scout troops, wedding parties, executive retreats and educational groups.
Note: I will help you plan a safe trip by using my thirty-five years of experience paddling in these islands, by offering quality sea kayaking equipment and by giving you in-depth instruction before you launch. Taking into account the strength of the tides, wind and weather forecasts, your experience, the type of adventure you want, etc., I will work with you to formulate an itinerary of campgrounds, hiking opportunities, alternate routes(in case of weather), danger areas to avoid, wildlife areas, etc. If I am out guiding a trip, my helpful and competent rental staff will be here to assist you.

San Juan Kayak Expeditions, the premier sea kayak rental company in the San Juan Islands, will get you there and back and in between safely! Sorry, but no rentals to parties with children under 16.
RENTAL CANCELLATION POLICY
60 – 30 days before departure a full refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. 30 – 15 days before departure we retain your deposit. 15 – 0 days before departure the full payment is retained unless we rent your boat(s). I suggest you purchase cancellation insurance just in case.
