Two Day Trips #1 and #2

#1.  Two-Day Overnighter – Southern Archipelago

This two-day adventure is a leisurely one night trip that paddles in protected waters, and is for those seeking a peaceful introduction to the sport of sea kayaking. We will camp at one of the most spectacular and least known campgrounds in the San Juans and explore the southern end of the archipelago by foot and kayak.  With the Strait of Juan de Fuca,  Mt. Baker(10,781 ft. elev.) and the Olympic Mountains(7,962 ft. elev. max.) as backdrops, we will hike the trails of American Camp National Park and paddle gently sloping beaches and hidden lagoons.  Bring your camera for hikes to Cattle Point Lighthouse and then to the summit of Mt. Finlayson where on a clear day we can see Mt. Rainier(14,411 ft. elev.) over the waters of this inland sea! Sightings of bald eagles, hawks, river otters, harbor seals, stellar sea lions, porpoise, mink and fox are common in this area.   Griffin Bay is also a rest area for loons, grebes, mergansers and scoters and more on their migratory paths.

Your guide will be an experienced and highly-trained professional who knows every inch of island’s coastline!  You will enjoy the comfort of quality two-person tents,  savor exquisite meals made with only fresh ingredients and be safe using new, state-of-the-art kayaks and gear!

For a stress-free introduction to sea kayaking and the San Juan Islands, this trip is a vacation adventure of a lifetime!

#2.  Two-Day Overnighter – Orca Quest

This overnighter paddles more miles, explores more islands and spends a half-day in prime orca whale country!  It  is more adventurous than our Southern Archipelago trip.  After a day of paddling, kayak sailing and hiking, we will enjoy a seaside campsite on an island accessible only by boat.  After a scrumptious dinner, we will hike to a secret lookout to watch the sun set over the Canadian Gulf and Vancouver Islands.  From our mossy aerie, we will be able to view feeding Dall’s and harbor porpoise and harbor seals below, while sunset colors bathe the British Columbia Coast Range in pink and purple!

On day two, we hunt whales!  The west side of Henry Island is prime orca habitat, as our local pods move up and down Haro Straight in search of salmon, and we will spend our last afternoon paddling with eyes wide open.

Please join us for a two-day sea kayaking adventure in search of whales and serenity!

“I can’t tell you enough how wonderful the trip was for Amanda and me!  It is a wonderful place to visit, and your leadership made it into a truly unforgetable experience for us!  It was a real privilege to have you share your knowledge, experience and passion with us!  Our only regret was that the trip wasn’t longer!”
