Guided Trip Costs 

The total cost for a 2012 San Juan Islands guided, kayak expedition per person is:

Guided trip fees include services of your guide, pick up and return to the ferry dock in Friday Harbor,  new, fiberglass, high quality, two-person sea kayaks, all boating gear, ThermaRest seat cushions, two-person tents, breakfasts and dinners(multi-day only), cooking gear and rain tarp.

Kayak Rental Costs (for self-guided trips-your own dates)

Summer 2012 Rental Rates………….$90.00 (per day per double kayak for multi-day rentals)

Summer 2012 Rental Rates………….$100.00 (for single day rentals)

Please add 7.8% state sales tax for rentals only.

A four days or more rental discount is available at $80 per day after the first day.

Rental fees include: paddles, PFDs, spray skirts, bailing pumps, ThermaRest seat cushions, sponges, chart, detailed written route itinerary, repair/spare parts kit, strobe, cockpit covers.

My rental prices reflect new, very high quality boats and gear, excellent service, experienced trip planning, free pick up at and return to ferry terminal or in-town accommodations, detailed instruction and chart orientation on the beach.  You won’t find this comprehensive service and top-of-the -line gear anywhere else!  For more information, please see my Kayak Rental page.

On kayak rentals, sleeping bags, pads and two-person tents may be rented for a nominal fee.

To secure your space on my guided trip or secure your rental kayak(s), a 50% deposit via credit card is due upon receipt of your registration form.  The balance is due thirty days before departure. Upon receipt of your registration form, we will send you a detailed equipment list and logistical information to help you get ready for your sea kayaking adventure in the San Juan Islands.

CANCELLATIONS

Guided Tours:  60 – 45 days prior to departure date a 100% refund less a $50.00 handling fee. 45 – 30 days prior to departure date we will retain entire deposit unless the space is filled, in which case a $50.00 handling fee is charged. Within 30 days of departure date full payment is retained unless space is filled. I suggest you obtain cancellation insurance just in case.

Rentals:  60 – 30 days before departure a full refund minus a $50 cancellation fee.  30 – 15 days before departure we retain your deposit.  15 – 0 days before departure the full payment is retained unless we rent your boat(s).  I suggest you purchase cancellation insurance just in case.

San Juan Kayak Expeditions reserves the right to reroute or cancel any trip due to poor weather or other conditions beyond my control. In the event of a cancellation your payment will be fully refunded or you may reschedule your trip.

“My husband and I took our first trip with Tim in 1988. We had such a wonderful time that we returned last summer to do a 4 day trip with our three boys, ages 15,19 and 22.

This trip was an outstanding adventure for all of us! As we paddled along from one island to the next, we spotted seals lounging on rocks and poking their heads up out of the water, while Tim pointed out bald eagles perched in trees high above us. We even saw orcas spouting from a distance.
We enjoyed the camaraderie of mealtime with new friends, and joking and laughing through games of Farkle by the campfire.
The highlight of the trip came when we hoisted the sails (that were specially designed by Tim) and sailed our kayaks!!  It was exhilarating to be skimming across the water with the colorful sails of 6 kayaks billowing in the air.
Tim’s sense of humor, incredible knowledge of the San Juan Islands and fun-loving spirit made this an unforgettable trip that will always be a treasured family memory.”
